Body of missing Trossachs wildlife ranger found

A man’s body found at a rural beauty spot has been confirmed as that of a missing wildlife ranger.

Andrew Simpson, 51, was reported missing at 8.20pm last night when he did not return home from work.

Mountain rescue teams, police, search and rescue dogs and a Royal Navy helicopter took part in the search for him around Glengyle, near Loch Katrine in The Trossachs.

Mr Simpson was working outdoors in the area yesterday afternoon.

Police found a body earlier today and later confirmed it is that of the missing man.

There are not thought to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: “Police in Forth Valley Division can confirm that the body found in the Loch Katrine area today is that of 51-year-old wildlife ranger Andrew Simpson. A report into this death will be sent to the procurator fiscal in due course and there appear to be no suspicious circumstances.”

Killin, Lomond and Ochil mountain rescue teams were all involved in the search for Mr Simpson, as was the Rescue 177 helicopter from HMS Gannet.
