Body found on riverbank

A POLICE investigation was launched yesterday after the body of a woman was found at the side of the River Clyde in Glasgow.

The body was found by a member of the public near to Napier Drive in Govan, opposite Scotland’s Museum of Transport, on the banks of 
the River Clyde at about 8.45am.

A spokeswoman for Strathclyde Police said the circumstances surrounding the death were still unclear. Fire crews and paramedics initially attended the scene, followed by police who erected a white ­forensics tent at the side of the riverbank.

A police spokeswoman said: “Strathclyde Police received a report around 8.45am that the body of a yet unidentified woman had been found next to the River Clyde in Govan.

“It is too early to establish the circumstances surrounding the death.”
