Body found in search for hillwalker in Highlands

A BODY has been discovered during a search in Lochaber for a missing 60-year-old hillwalker.

Police Scotland has confirmed the identity of the man as Ian Bell, from the Hertfordshire area.

A search was launched, led by volunteers from the Lochaber Mountain Rescue Team, after Mr Bell failed to return from a walk in the Carn mor Dearg area on Monday.

A police spokesman said: “Sadly a man’s body was found during the search. There are not thought to be any suspicious circumstances and a report has been submitted to the Procurator Fiscal, as is standard procedure.”
