A body has been found close to the home of a Fife woman who went missing over the weekend.

The body was found in a wooded area in the Fordell Estate, north of Dalgety Bay this afternoon.

Rachel Adams, a 47-year-old mother and regular runner, had gone jogging at 10am on Sunday and has not been seen since.

She was last seen wearing black running leggings, a bright blue winter running jacket and white trainers. She left her house carrying her iPod.

Fife constabulary said the identity of the body or the cause of death cannot be confirmed at this early stage.

Superintendent Andy Edmonston, who is leading the search for Rachel, said: “Rachel’s family are becoming increasingly concerned for her safety.

“I would ask anyone with any knowledge of her whereabouts, or anyone who may have seen her out running today to contact Fife Police as soon as possible. If Rachel is reading this appeal, please get in touch with us”

No further details have been released.
