Board axes training plan

Plans for a state-of-the-art training centre at Newbridge will no longer go ahead, after the Fire and Rescue Board decided not to progress.

Instead the board agreed to maintaining existing facilities and develop an Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) and rope rescue facility, open tarmac area and briefing room.

Breathing apparatus training can be done through use of the ship unit at the Training Centre at McDonald Road. The estimated cost of this is 438,000.
