Blindcraft staff warned: It's a 3-day week or closure

COUNCIL bosses have confirmed that BlindCraft will probably have to close if workers do not accept the proposal for a three-day working week because of financial cuts.

In a report concerning the Craigmillar-based bed-making factory, officials said that unless employees give the nod for a reduced working week, 650,000 in necessary savings was unlikely to be achieved elsewhere.

But in a ballot on Thursday, workers said they would not accept the proposal.

The city council said it would protect redundancy entitlement at the level they would receive for a full working week The final decision of the union will be revealed on Thursday.
