Blaze-hit charity seeks home

A CHARITY which had its home devastated by two fires in as many weeks is looking for a new premises in Wester Hailes.

A blaze broke out at the Dumbryden Road building, known as The Log Cabin, on Monday night and followed a previous fire at the premises on August 15.

The building was home to Wester Hailes Befrienders, a charity run by Children 1st which provides a support service for young people who are having difficulties at home, in school or in their community.

Deputy chief executive of Children 1st, Debbie Adams, said: "It is extremely disappointing that The Log Cabin has been subject to another fire. Staff, volunteers and those that use our service were devastated after the first fire."

The blaze is being treated as suspicious and an investigation is under way.
