Bistro plans for city unit

A DEFUNCT off licence on Queen Street is set to be resurrected as a food and drink bistro.

Plans have been approved to turn the former Wines @ 39 off licence into a bistro featuring a small wine bar, off licence and delicatessen with seating for around 15 people.

The new wine bar will be situated next door to Margiotta, on the corner of Frederick Street.

Only one neighbour objected to the plans on the grounds that the wine bar would create an increase in noise levels and disturbance, an increase in traffic and decreased parking facilities and cause an obstruction in the road with service vehicles unloading stock into the premises.

However, the objections were overruled and the bistro will now go ahead.
