Bird centre snapping up prize photos

The Scottish Seabird Centre is hunting for the next nature photographers after launching its sixth annual photography awards.

There are six categories – landscape, worldwide wildlife, Scottish wildlife, creative visions of nature, world flora and environmental impact – while young photographers up to age 15 can also compete.

Tom Brock OBE, chief executive of the centre, said: “Our photography awards are popular worldwide and we have always been hugely impressed with the level of entries.”

The awards will be judged by one of Scotland’s leading natural history and landscape photographers, Laurie Campbell, and freelance photographer Graham Riddell.

Laurie Campbell said: “It’s not always the experience that makes a good photographer, it’s about having the eye and patience to capture a moment.”

The closing date for entries is 31 October.
