Bionic hand firm hailed

THE firm which developed the world's first bionic hand has won a major European award.

Livingston-based Touch Bionics scooped the Most Innovative Company prize at the 2010 International Business Awards in Turkey.

The organisation won the award on the strength of its follow-ups to the robotic hand, which include bionic fingers and i-LIMB pulse.

Stuart Mead, Touch's chief executive, said today: "Innovation is at the core of this company and, from the launch of our first product, the i-LIMB hand, we have never stopped innovating to ensure we continue to lead the world in the field of commercial bionic technology.
