Bio-quarter firm is up for national prize

THE first company to come out of the city's Bio-quarter has been nominated for a prestigious national prize.

The firm i2eye Diagnostics, which produces innovative eye tests, is shortlisted for the Ibiz Expo in London, which runs next week.

Chief executive Peter Estibeiro said: "We are pleased to have been selected. Our technology does not exist anywhere else in the world to our knowledge."

The Bio-quarter at Little France is beginning to take shape. Two new buildings will be open by the end of this year, and it is hoped the facility will become central to Edinburgh's bid to become a world leader in scientific research.
