Bikers 'raced at up to 135mph'

TWO bikers have been accused of racing each other at up to 135mph on a road notorious for speeding.

Steven McIntyre, 30, from Tillicoultry, Clackmannanshire, pleaded not guilty at Peebles Sheriff Court to dangerous driving on the A702 road at Dolphinton in the Borders on 18 October.

It is alleged he reached speeds of up to 135mph and was racing Philip Gower, 40, from Kirknewton, Midlothian, who faces a similar charge. The trial will take place on 28 April.

Last October, Neil Purves, 27, was jailed for nine months and banned for five years after doing 166mph on the same stretch.
