Biker dies after colliding with bus

A MOTORCYCLIST who died after he lost control, was thrown from his bike and hit a bus was named by police yesterday.

Alistair Babes, 42, died at the scene in Glasgow Road, Blantyre, on Friday.

The accident happened when he was riding his Suzuki motorcycle northbound shortly after 5pm.

The father-of-two, from East Kilbride, had been a keen biker since his teens and throughout his life owned numerous types of bikes.

He leaves a partner of 20 years, a daughter, 18, and a son.

A Strathclyde police spokesman said: "It appears that he lost control and came off his bike. He then struck a Volvo bus which was stationary at the time."
