Bike lawyers back corridor

THE only law firm in Scotland working exclusively for cyclists has backed plans for a new "bike corridor" in the south of the Capital.

City-based Bicycle Accident Law has written to the city council supporting its plans for the route along Mayfield Road, Causewayside and Buccleuch Street.

The firm's principal solicitor, Andrew Bird, said: "Schemes like the Quality Bike Corridor are to be welcomed. If the council chose to designate the Quality Bike Corridor a 20mph zone it would be even safer and more attractive to cyclists."

He added: "I have helped hundreds of people claim compensation for road traffic accidents. Some of those accidents wouldn't have happened, or the injuries would have been minor, if the cars involved were travelling at lower speeds."
