Big splash in memory of Jordan

MORE than £750 has been raised for the hospice which looked after a promising young footballer who lost his fight against cancer at the age of 11.

Jordan Houston, from Musselburgh, died at children’s hospice Rachel House in Kinross last month after being diagnosed with a brain tumour a year ago.

The former Loretto RC Primary pupil’s fight inspired Oonagh O’Brien, from Portobello, to turn to swimming to help raise cash for those who helped Jordan.

She braved the chilly Forth to swim two kilometres from Musselburgh to Portobello in the Edinburgh Open Water Swimming Festival.

Oonagh, 54, had known Jordan for eight years. She said: “I came out of Jordan’s funeral and just wanted to do something, and I think these children’s hospices are amazing places.”
