Big jousting event begins this weekend

THE SPECTACULAR Jousting Extravaganza will get under way at Linlithgow Palace this weekend.

This family event, which is being staged tomorrow, Sunday and next weekend, features a packed programme of medieval entertainment.

The Palace will become the battleground for the Knights of Royal England, a band of would-be warriors who showcase forgotten medieval skills of horsemanship and weaponry.

There will also be costumed performers, a medieval encampment, storytelling, crafts and games, and falconry to keep all ages entertained at the event, which runs from 12:30pm to 4:30pm each day.

Historic Scotland events manager, Nick Finnigan, said: "This year's Jousting Extravaganza promises to be our biggest and best ever."
