Bid to help abuse victims

Legislation aimed at improving justice for victims of domestic abuse would be a "step in the right direction", the MSP behind the proposals says.

Under Rhoda Grant's bill, put before Holyrood yesterday, a person would no longer need to point to a series of incidents before getting a non-harassment order granted in civil proceedings involving domestic abuse - one incident would be enough.

Ms Grant, a Labour Highlands and Islands MSP, said: "Every journey begins with one small step and I believe this bill would be a step in the right direction."
