Beware the bin-rakers

POLICE have warned residents in the Ravelston area to ensure they destroy personal mail or confidential paperwork before throwing it out after a spate of "bin-raking" incidents.

Officers have spoken to a suspect they believe may have been involved in raking through bins in the area, but have so far been unable to bring charges. The force has alerted residents that documents placed in bins could leave them vulnerable to fraud if not shredded.

Officers from Drylaw police station are carrying out patrols.
