GET IT ON, Bryan Burnett, Radio Scotland, 92.4-94.7 FM and 810 MW, Monday to Thursday, 6:10pm to 8pm: During the show, viewers select records based on a particular theme. The themes are put up on the show's blog a week in advance and you can post your own selections.

One hour isn't really long enough to do some of the suggested topics justice and, as a result, the selections can sometimes seem a bit obvious.

It's still a wonderfully eclectic show from Bryan and his regular sidekick.

SOUNDWAVE, John Cavanagh, Radio Six, online via www.radiosix.com at various times, next show Saturday 9am: This station should not be confused with BBC 6 Music. Radio Six International is an internet radio station based in Glasgow.

It broadcasts a wide-ranging mix of sounds from all over the planet. On this show, John Cavanagh plays a vast array of alternative pop. The station is radio's best-kept secret.

THE KEN BRUCE SHOW, Radio 2, 88-91 FM, weekdays, 9:30am to noon: The listening figures don't lie – Ken Bruce's show has a weekly reach of 6.6 million listeners tuning into features such as Tracks of My Years and the ever-popular Popmaster quiz.

He may have gone "dahn sarf" many years ago but he's still as Scottish as Irn-Bru and shortbread.

Recent reports that Bruce was to be axed were neither confirmed nor denied by the BBC, but caused considerable outrage.

Ken has also been the victim of Wikipedia mischief-makers who suggested that he played maracas on Coast to Coast's 1981 hit (Do) The Hucklebuck.

THE MUSIC BED, Jim Gellatly, Radio Scotland, 92.4-94.7 FM and 810 MW, Fridays, 8:05pm to 10pm: Since his much-publicised divorce from Xfm, Jim has been cosying up to Radio Scotland on a Friday night for pillow talk, three-in-a-studio live sessions and rampantly good music.

Jim also has a free weekly new music podcast available via Radio Magnetic and iTunes (or should that be Aye Tunes?). Rumours that Jim combs his hair with a toffee apple are unconfirmed at this time.

THE JANICE FORSYTH SHOW, Radio Scotland, 92.4-94.7 FM and 810 MW, Saturdays, 10:05am to 12:30pm: With an eclectic mix of music and guests, this long-running Saturday morning Demus Production for Radio Scotland is a cut above most magazine programmes.
