Benefits fraudster stole £1500

A WOMAN claimed £1500 in incapacity benefit while she was working as a cleaner, a court has heard.

Susan Devlin, 52, failed to tell the Department of Work and Pensions about her change in circumstances. As a result, she was able to continue to claim for a year until caught.

Devlin, of Clement Rise, Livingston, West Lothian, appeared for sentence at the town's sheriff court yesterday.

She had pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing to obtaining the money between November 2005 and October 2006 and was yesterday sentenced to a 400 fine.
