Bathing sites to be tested

MASS testing of bathing waters across the Lothians is to take place as environment chiefs prepare for the summer season.

The Scottish Environment Protection Agency will begin gathering samples from popular spots such as Portobello beach and areas around East Lothian. Health Protection Scotland said the results will be put online in due course.

The quality of beaches in the area has improved over the years, with most in Scotland passing the SEPA guidelines.
