Barnton Hotel owner asks for extra time

THE owner of a crumbling city hotel has asked to extend the permission to demolish it and replace it with flats.

Proposals to demolish the C-listed Barnton Hotel were first lodged in 2001 and new plans were approved in 2006.

That planning consent is now close to expiring – prompting Barnton Properties Limited to apply to extend the consent.

Council chiefs issued an “emergency works notice” on Barnton Properties in May.
