Barman gets the mix right

A BARTENDER from the Capital has won a competition to find the UK's best mixologist.

Joey Medrington, who works at Tigerlily in George Street, won the local round of the cocktail-mixing contest and then took part in a tour of Spain with his fellow finalists, where he impressed judges with his creativity and presentation skills to scoop the 4000 winning prize. He will also represent competition organiser Licor 43, taking part in a photoshoot and compiling a bartender's guide.

UK marketing manager Mariam Ridley said: "It has been an exciting journey, starting with the regional rounds and identifying an elite group of mixologists, to the finale where we had the tough task of deciding which finalist should represent Licor 43. Joey's cocktails epitomised the passion and style of modern Spain."
