Barclays cards hit by computer glitch

Barclays customers were unable to access their accounts or withdraw cash on Saturday due to a 20-minute computer glitch, it emerged yesterday. It is thought the number affected runs into thousands.

It affected both Barclays debit card and Barclaycard credit card holders, and led to some customers having to abandon purchases.
