Banned man took wheel

A BANNED motorist fell foul of the law after he took over the wheel from a drunk driver.

James Drummond was arrested and charged with driving while disqualified for a third time.

Livingston Sheriff Court was told that although his driving ban had ended, he had not applied for a new licence and was still disqualified.

Drummond, 28, of ­Polbeth, West Lothian, yesterday pleaded guilty to driving while disqualified and without ­insurance.

Iain Smith, defending, said: “There was a drunk person driving and he made them pull over and continued with the journey.”

Sentence was deferred for background reports.
