Bank card con costs pensioner £20,000

A PENSIONER has been conned out of £20,000 by a man pretending to be from his bank.

The 78-year-old, from Alyth in Perth and Kinross, was told his bank card was defunct and persuaded to take a new one.

The scammer then took his “old” card and withdrew thousands of pounds from his account. The robber is in his late 30s to early 40s, about 5ft 7ins, of medium build with dark hair. He spoke with a foreign accent.
