Bag a bargain at Salvation Army party

Shoppers are being invited to help celebrate the first birthday of the Salvation Army Trading Company's Leith Walk store on Saturday, when the charity shop will be selling everything for just £1 for the first hour.

Doors open between 9am and 5pm, and a queue is expected ahead of the opening as eager shoppers vie to be first through the doors to bag some of the bargains on sale.

Profits are gifted-aided to The Salvation Army to help fund its work throughout the UK. Work with the homeless, addictions services and elderly care are just some of the valuable support it provides.

Shop manager Jacqui Cuff said: "This first birthday party is our way of saying a great big thank you for the wonderful welcome we have received in Edinburgh during our first year, for the generosity of donors and the support of all our volunteers and valued customers. "
