Babysitter jailed for four years

A BABYSITTER who forced a four-year-old girl into a freezer at a city home has been jailed for more than four years.

Scaffolder Stuart Kitt was found guilty of the “cruel and wilful attack”, which he had previously attempted to blame on the child’s mother.

The attack in October 2007 left her with permanent burn marks to her skin and psychological damage.

Her identity and the area in which it happened has been kept secret to protect her.

Kitt was convicted of dragging the girl by her ankles and placing her arms in the freezer cabinet, to her severe injury and permanent disfigurement.

He was also found guilty of two charges of failing to appear in court.

The 33-year-old was acting as the girl’s babysitter at an address in the city on the night it happened.
