Baby treated following fire

A BABY was taken to hospital following an electrical fire in Livingston this morning.

The three-month-old girl was transferred to St John's Hospital as a precaution after smoke filled her house in Harburn Avenue, in the Deans area of Livingston, at around 2.30am.

The fire started in an electrical cupboard. Four firefighters wearing breathing apparatus extinguished the blaze.

Six hours earlier, a 30-year-old man was taken to hospital suffering from smoke inhalation in a separate fire in Blackburn.

Fire crews were called to Mosside Terrace, in Blackburn, at around 8.25pm to find a garden hut was well alight.

The man was also taken to St John's Hospital.
