Baby boy dies after 'drowning' at home

A BABY boy has died in an apparent drowning at his home.

The five-month-old was taken to Crosshouse Hospital in Kilmarnock by ambulance but later died. He was named locally as Aaron Egan.

Paramedics were called to an address in Fullarton Street in Kilmarnock, where they found the youngster.

A post-mortem examination was carried out yesterday, but the results have not been released.

Detective Inspector Scott McClelland, from Strathclyde Police, said: "A five-month-old male child was discovered within a house in Fullarton Street, Kilmarnock around 8:25pm on Friday.

"Police inquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the death.

"Strathclyde Police are continuing to support the parents at this difficult time."
