Awards ceremony praises good work of volunteers

INSPIRATIONAL volunteers will be recognised for their work at an awards ceremony.

East Lothian Council is calling for people to nominate volunteers who have made a difference in their community.

There are nine different categories, ranging from Young Volunteer of the Year to Community Activist of the Year. Groups of tenants and local organisations can also be nominated.

Councillor Paul McLennan, East Lothians's community wellbeing leader, said: "

The awards are a great chance to recognise the positive impact that volunteers make in our communities and reward the achievements of the individuals that make it happen."

The awards are being run with the East Lothian Learning Partnership and Volunteer Development East Lothian. The closing date for nominations is Monday, 12 April, and an awards ceremony will be held at Jewel & Esk Valley College in June.
