Award for bigot-busting school pupils

A SECONDARY school where pupils have created a “bigot-busting” code of conduct has become the first in Scotland to receive a special award for its efforts to tackle sectarianism.

Duncanrig secondary school in East Kilbride, South Lanarkshire, has just achieved accredited status as part of the leading anti-sectarian charity Nil By Mouth’s Champion for Change campaign.

Nil By Mouth campaign director Dave Scott praised the “exceptionally high standard” of the anti-sectarian work being carried out at the school, where pupils have also created their own code of conduct to try to stamp out bigotry.
