Athletes are ready to do city proud

A GROUP of athletic Edinburgh youngsters are gearing up for the forthcoming International Children's Games being staged in Lanarkshire.

The city council and Edinburgh Leisure have combined forces to support the 18-strong squad, who will represent the Capital in badminton, golf, volleyball and athletics.

Councillor Deidre Brock, culture and leisure convener, said: "It must be so exciting for these talented young people to be representing their home city alongside children from all over the world.

"I'm honoured to be going with them to Lanarkshire, where I know they will do Edinburgh proud."
