Assembly in home switch

THE Assembly Theatre has announced plans to move its Festival operation from its traditional home at the Assembly Rooms to George Square.

The biggest operator at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe is to run at least three Fringe theatre spaces and two Spiegeltents in and around George Square.

Assembly director William Burdett-Coutts said: "It's a huge move, it's going to take a lot of set-up work to get going. I would aim, inevitably, to make it a long-term thing."
