Assault police hold searches

POLICE have executed a number of search warrants in Bathgate linked to a serious assault on a 40-year-old man.

Officers carried out the searches in connection with the attack in Fauldhouse last Thursday, which residents believed involved gunfire between "gangsters".

Police confirmed the victim was taken to St John's Hospital after being seriously assaulted but that he had not suffered gunshot wounds.

Residents in the McKinnon Road area said they were left "terrified" after a gang of men in cars descended on the piece of wasteland, near a playpark, before hearing shouting and gunfire.
