Price comparison website petrolprices.com shows Asda is already the cheapest for both fuels in Edinburgh and Glasgow.

The diesel price is also Asda’s lowest since February.

The supermarket’s move follows previous 2p cuts at its 195 forecourts last Saturday and two weeks before that.

Andy Peake, Asda’s director of petrol trading, said: “We’re chuffed to be offering a third price move in as many weeks to hard-pressed motorists running on empty.”
