Asda route safety move

Measures need to be put in place to improve road safety near a busy city supermarket, according to a councillor.

Councillor Lesley Hinds, transport spokeswoman for the Labour group on the city council, said local residents have expressed concerns about traffic speeds and road safety near the Asda store at the Jewel.

Their concerns relate to the “bus only” route between Duddingston Road South and Asda, particularly at peak periods.

Cllr Hinds has called for a report on measures to help enforce legal restrictions currently in place to reduce vehicle speed.
