Artwork in store ahead of opening

STAFF at a shopping centre in West Lothian have come up with a bright idea to make their hoardings look more attractive while eager shoppers wait for the new Primark store to open next year.

The work of local artist Cathy Bell has been selected for display at The Centre in Livingston, where it will remain in place for a year.

Her winning design, which explores fashion trends through the years, was chosen from a host of artists' submissions.

As part of her prize, Cathy also received a 500 gift card to spend in any of The Centre's 155 stores.

Marketing manager at The Centre, Jennifer Bruce, urged shoppers to stop and look at the work. She said: "Cathy's artwork really brightens up Almondvale Walk.

"I would encourage visitors to spend some time enjoying Cathy's concept."
