Arrest over bookies raid

A MAN has been arrested and charged in connection with an armed robbery at a bookmakers on New Year’s Day.

The 32-year-old was due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court yesterday. The incident at Coral Bookmakers, in Great Junction Street, left a member of staff “very shaken”.

Police said the robber ordered the member of staff to put money into a bag at around 4pm on Sunday. The suspect escaped with a three-figure sum.
