Around the town: Talk looks at spiritual care of CF children

A LECTURE next month will look at spirituality and the parental care of chronically ill children.

Dr Daniel Grossoehme, an assistant professor in the division of pulmonary medicine and department of pastoral care at Cincinnati Children's Hospital in the US, will talk about the relationship between spiritual beliefs and caring at home for children with cystic fibrosis. The lecture is at New College on The Mound on June 14 and starts at 4.15pm.

Team gearing up for cross-country trek

THE Trans-Scotland Canoe Expedition is to culminate at Lochrin Basin. The event, which will be raising money for The Teenage Cancer Trust, sees ten participants paddle from Inverness to Fort William via the Great Glen, walk to Glasgow, then paddle by canal to Edinburgh. The HND acting and performance students are staging their version of Steven Berkoff's East.

Nurseries get out and about

PUPILS from Broomhouse and St Joseph's nursery classes are set to celebrate the opening of their new garden.

The grand opening will take place at the joint campus on June 9.

The nurseries, which share outdoor areas have been working for the past year to secure funding for the garden.

Parkinson's advice on offer

NHS Lothian's Parkinson's Specialist Nurses are hosting an information afternoon today from 1-4pm at George Heriot's School in Edinburgh.

The main aim of the event is to meet people living with Parkinson's who are not aware of the nurse service.
