A CITY couple have opened an independent fashion boutique.

Arkangel & Felon re-launched last week after a refurbishment at their William Street store.

Husband and wife team Sarah Cosgrove and Andy Kidd are behind the venture, which includes top brands.

Sarah spent 15 years as a freelance fashion stylist and props buyer in London, while Andy gave up a successful career working as a business consultant to support the new business.

College shifts stained glass

A PORTRAIT of the founder of Scotland's first veterinary college is one of a set of six stained glass windows to be moved to a new vet school in Roslin.

The Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies has been given approval to move the windows from the current Summerhall campus.

Noodle bar for old shop

THE former Costcutter on South Bridge is to be transformed into a noodle bar.

Tokyou, which already has a restaurant in Liverpool, has been given approval for change of use to turn the former convenience store into a new Edinburgh branch, specialising in Chinese produce and green tea.

Conference helps charities survive tough times

A ONE-DAY conference to help Scotland's charities and voluntary organisations find ways to overcome the recession is set to take place in the Capital.

Succeeding in Uncertain Times has been organised by Voluntary Action Scotland (VAS) and will take place at the Hilton Grosvenor on August 31.

The event is designed to help charities formulate strategies in areas including employment law, governance, and cultural and organisational change.

Pawnbroker adds branch to its chain

PAWNBROKING chain Ramsdens Financial Ltd has opened its first store in the Capital.

The firm said the shop in Dalry Road, which opened on Thursday, will be followed by a second in Duke Street, Leith, in the near future.

The stores will also sell, repair, buy and value jewellery, cash cheques and offer pay-day loans and foreign currency.

The chain first appeared in Scotland in February last year.
