Around town: Bridal store on move to new ad-dress

A FORMER Morrison Street bridal wear store has moved to bigger premises in the New Town.

Rachel Scott Bridal Couture has moved to 3 Dundas Street, citing an expansion of the business for the move.

The owner this week applied to repaint the store grey and erect a sign above the door.

The store stocks hand-picked designer gowns and wedding accessories.

An official opening event and celebrations are planned in the near future.

Author to hold Q&A session

Novelist Margaret Atwood is to speak to an audience in Edinburgh.

The author will take part in a Q&A via video link at the Filmhouse in August, after a showing of the documentary In The Wake of the Flood which followed her on a recent dramatised literary tour.

Family fun at summer fair

AERIAL trapeze, terrier racing and falconry are just some of the numerous events that families can enjoy at Hopetoun Summer Fair this Sunday.

The activities, which are due to begin at 11am, also feature strongwoman Amanda Brutus pulling a Roman chariot with her teeth.

Artist to be put in frame

A UNIQUE interview has been set up between an artist and the person she painted.

Barbara Rae painted a portrait of retired Court of Session judge Lord Prosser. They will both be interviewed by Dr Duncan Thomson, from Art in Healthcare, on August 12 at 7pm in Out of the Blue, Dalmeny Street.

Fiesta weekend takes shape

A SUMMER fiesta of music and workshops is taking place this weekend.

The free event has been organised by National Museums Scotland and will take place in the galleries on Hawthornden Court on both Saturday and Sunday. The workshops are between 12pm and 4pm.

Cyclists reach end of epic capitals trek

A PAIR of cyclists bidding to raise 10,000 for charity have arrived in Edinburgh in the final leg of their trip to each of the capitals of Great Britain and Ireland.

Clive Robertson, 47, and Chris Aynsely, 24, covered a distance of 1400 miles over two weeks before arriving in the city yesterday.

The pair are raising funds for the Wansbeck Special Care Baby Unit in Northumberland.

Time to use your head at milliner workshop

WORKSHOPS teaching people how to make fascinators are being held at Telford College as part of this year's Hatwalk event.

Members of the public will get the chance to make their own creation during the sessions taking place on August 11 and 12 with milliners Felicity Faichney and Fenella Kerr.

This year's Hatwalk is rasing fun for the It's Good 2 Give! charity.
