Army plans to save church

THE army has vowed to maintain a military church at Redford Barracks despite the current building having been condemned.

St Margaret's Garrison Church, on Redford Road, will be demolished after being condemned for a variety of reasons, including the discovery of asbestos.

The army said it is currently looking for an alternative venue, despite fears for the end of the church.

An army spokesman said: "The garrison church will continue but in other venues which are being considered at the moment."
