Armed man robs bookie

AN armed robber threatened staff with a handgun in a city bookmaker before making off with hundreds of pounds.

The incident took place at Ladbrokes in West Maitland Street on Friday evening.

It is the second such incident in the Capital this month, after a William Hill shop was targeted on August 5.

Two members of staff and one customer were in the Ladbrokes at around 8.40pm when the attacker entered.

He is described as white, 5ft 8ins tall with a slim build and pale skin. He wore a dark jacket with a hood pulled up, blue jeans and white trainers.
