Approval for urban expansion

PLANS for a major urban expansion in Winchburgh, Broxburn, have been given the green light by planning officials this week.

More than 3,000 new homes and a series of multi-million pound expansion projects for transport, education and public art and infrastructure will now go ahead.

The investment is part of West Lothian Council's 15-year local strategy plan which will see major investment in one of Scotland's fastest growing areas.

The new development will mean 2.5 million in funding for secondary schooling in West Lothian, with a further 1 million to be spent on extending Holy Family Primary School.

Improvements to the joint Holy Family/Winchburgh Primary School building and grounds will also be made, along with public transport contributions, cemetery provision, art and town centre improvements.
