Apprentices are on track with rail firm

TRAIN operator East Coast is to take on four new apprentices at its Edinburgh depot.

The company's apprenticeship scheme will provide a four-year education on the railway industry, including lessons in the classroom and hands-on experience working on the locomotives and carriages. Toni Mrozs and Aidan Christie, both 17 and from Falkirk, Nathan Bryce, 21, from Dunfermline, and Callum McPherson, 18, from Falkirk, will be based at the Craigentinny depot.

East Coast engineering director Ian Duncan said: "As a major UK train operator, we understand how important it is to develop the skills and knowledge of young people and we are rightly proud of our education and development policy and the investment in our industry for the exciting challenges ahead."

Skills Assessor and mentor Warren Johnston said the course "will provide them with an excellent education in all aspects of rail vehicle engineering".
