Apple bites into new iPhone record

FIRST-DAY pre-orders of Apple’s iPhone 4S in America have topped one million, breaking the record set by last year’s model.

Apple and phone companies started taking orders for the phone last Friday. It is expected to hit stores this Friday.

First-day orders for the iPhone 4 were 600,000 when it launched last year.
