Detectives have had a “steady” response from the public following a plea for information on the man aged around 30.

He was discovered shortly after 10pm on Sunday September 8 at The Boardwalk on Aberdeen’s beachfront. His death is not suspicious, police say.

They have yet to trace the man’s family and have issued an artist’s impression of his face. He had reddish-brown hair, green or hazel eyes and a freckled complexion.

Pc John Urquhart said: “We’ve had a steady response from the public and I would continue to urge anyone who believes they may have information concerning the identity of the man to come forward.

“This is an unusual case as we would normally expect friends or relatives concerned for the welfare of a loved one to come forward and report them missing if they haven’t been seen or heard from in a number of days.

“We’ve had no such calls and I would continue to urge people to come forward who may recognise the clothing or image of the man or have seen a man matching the description in the area of Aberdeen beach front around Sunday September 8.”

The dead man was wearing Officers Club dark blue denim jeans, a black Adidas top, an orange Adidas t-shirt and size-nine grey plimsolls. He was 5ft 9in and slim.

Police have contacted forces across the country and the National Missing Persons Bureau to see if they have records of missing people who fit the man’s description.
