Appeal renewed after Aberdeen security van theft

POLICE Scotland today renewed their appeal for witnesses in their hunt for an armed robber who escaped with more then £10,000 in a raid on a security van in Aberdeen.

The robber, who was armed with a metal pole, fled with an undisclosed five-figure sum of money in the robbery on a G4S van outside the Makro cash and carry store in the Altens area of the city on Monday,

A grey Audi Q5 4X 4 car, believed to have been used in the robbery, was later found abandoned in the Cults area of the city.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: “Police are keen to speak to anybody who may have seen a dark grey Audi Q5 with the registration number SW12 CVF driving at speed from the scene towards the Charleston Flyover at around 12.45pm on Monday, or who may have seen the vehicle in the previous few days in the Aberdeen area.

“The car, which has had a copy of an identical vehicle’s number plate fitted, was later recovered in the south side of the city.”

He added: “Anybody with information about this incident or who may have seen a dark grey Audi Q5 with the above registration plate travelling in the area at the time is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 if they wish to remain anonymous.”

The man being sought is described as being in his mid 20s, about 6ft tall, of athletic build, with stubble on his face. He was wearing dark clothing and spoke with a local accent.
