Appeal over rescued dog

Animal welfare inspectors are appealing for information about a starving and injured dog which was found in a “dreadful state”.

The Scottish SPCA was called in to rescue the young male Labrador crossbreed after he was discovered by a dogwalker at the foot of an embankment in Fife. The dog was “extremely thin” with an infected head wound and needed vet treatment.

The dog, which is now at the SSPCA’s Edinburgh and Lothians rescue and rehoming centre, was found near Binnend, in Burntisland, on Saturday.

Inspector Nicola Liddell urged the dog’s owner, or anyone with information, to contact the charity on 03000 999 999.
